Dr. Kurt Nielsen, PsyD

Clinical Psychologist

Personal Statement:

I am a licensed clinical psychologist trained to provide psychological assessment and therapy for individuals struggling with chemical dependency, co-occurring disorders, mood disorders, neurocognitive impairment, learning disabilities, eating disorders, trauma, and adjustment disorders. I utilize empirically-supported testing and clinical interviewing techniques to provide thorough psychological assessments and differential diagnoses. My treatment approach is grounded in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy. I use evidence-based mindfulness exercises, cognitive-behavior therapy, and biofeedback training to help clients gain increasing awareness of their vulnerabilities and strengths. Clients change by learning to monitor and redirect dysfunctional thoughts before they manifest into undesirable behavior. We offer thorough psychological and cognitive assessments based on the best scientific evidence of models and research. We only use the most up-to-date testing materials and utilize computer-assisted assessment for the majority of our measures. Our office works with a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues and provides services that include medication management, psychological testing and counseling. In a comfortable and welcoming environment, we offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each of our patients individual needs
