John Reynolds, PhD
My primary goal as a psychologist is to help the client clarify their presenting problem and work with them towards reducing their suffering and enhancing their quality of life. I work with both adults and adolescents that may be experiencing a variety of challenges including anxiety, depression, anger, and post-traumatic stress. I provide psychological assessments for a variety of complaints, and ground my counseling work in scientific, evidence-based interventions such as Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and various mindfulness-based interventions. I also believe it is essential to view each client as the unique and complex individual that they are, and do my best to tailor the therapy or assessment work to their particular personality and situation within the framework of evidence based treatment. My best work is accomplished when both the client and I feel we are working together as a team towards a common goal, while being aware of their challenges and resources in mind, body, relationship, and environment. For emergency response personnel including military, law enforcement, and their families, I have worked in both law enforcement and military environments and recently worked as a clinician with soldiers experiencing severe and chronic PTSD at the William Beaumont Army Medical Center’s Warrior Resilience Center / PTSD Treatment Program. I greatly appreciate your willingness to take the first steps towards recovery, and will honor your trust by doing my utmost to provide a supportive and professional environment.
